What's New

March 20, 2018

Our tournament at Callippe Preserve was canceled due to pervasive forecasts of rain. Even if it didn't rain, the Board decided that it would likely be cart path only and sloppy, so we worked with the course to cancel the tournament and move our payment to some later date. Cross those fingers that things start drying up (at least on the weekends)!  Our next tournament is on April 7th at Monarch Bay, with the cutoff coming up on March 28th.

As a reminder, the 19th Hole Duffers will be one of the first clubs in the NCGA (and really in the USGA) to start using the USGA's new tournament management software, USGA TM. This is a web-based program (rather than the ancient Windows-only program we used to use, TPP) and is truly a leap forward for tournament management.

However, as is always the case with big changes, there may be some hiccups as we learn the new system, so please bear with us.

One of the key changes you will notice is that we will not be posting the tee sheets or results on the website. That is because one of the features of the new software is that a website is created specific to each event. So you will notice a "Portal" link next to each active tournament on the Tournaments page. If you click on that, it will take you to a website that exists only for that one tournament. On that website you can find the tee sheets and after the tournament scoring is completed, you will be able to see the results (and even some player statistics from the round, assuming all goes well).

We're hoping this will be a major improvement in how we manage our tournaments (as the Handicap Coordinator, I am certainly already seeing some benefits). Be sure to let us know if you see any problems or have any questions by sending an email to handicap@19thholeduffers.org.

NOTE: Please add donotreply@golfgenius.com to your address book in your email program! We will be starting to use the USGA TM system to send emails, including those leading up to tournaments that contain the tee time sheets, rain out messages, etc. This is a much easier way for us to communicate with you, but just to be sure your email system doesn't block us, usually it is enough to add this "from" address to your address book. Thanks! If you feel you've missed a communication, do contact any of the Board members to let us know (our email addresses are on the Board of Directors page).  And as a reminder, if rain is threatening for any tournament, be sure to call the course the morning of the tournament before driving there.

If you have not already created an eGolfer account, please do so by following the steps outlined here. Going forward we are going to use eClubhouse for registering our members and their guest for future tournaments.
